MedQuest Health Careers Exploration Program is a rigorously structured, educational, week-long, and residential program that is held on the University of Vermont (UVM) campus, providing students with the opportunity to explore a variety of careers in health care while gaining comfort in a college environment. Students will receive confidentiality and infection control training. Through interactive presentations and a job shadowing experience at local hospitals or within the communities, students strengthen their leadership skills, learn about community and continuing education resources, and develop a clearer understanding of the health care field and how they can enter into such a career.

What does it cost?

$650 (if selected). Some scholarship money may be available. Meals, snacks and housing are included. Students must arrange for their own transportation to and from the residence. (No cars can remain on campus during the session.)

How do I apply?

You must submit an application (MedQuest application) and two recommendation forms completed by a professional (one from the student's school) by February 20, 2013. Applications received after February 20 will not be considered. PLAN AHEAD if you are using the post office or faxing. (The fax machine line is very busy daily. If you do fax, please call the main office at to confirm receipt of the fax.) Emailed aplications will not be accepted. Late OR incomplete applications, as well as late or incomplete recommendations will not be considered.

A committee of program staff at Champlain Valley AHEC will review the applications and choose the students best suited for the program.

Notification of acceptance will go out through email by March 27, 2013.
