Claire was raised in the Champlain Valley. Following graduation from the Jeanne Mance School of Nursing, she married Alan Ayer. They settled in Weybridge and raised their three children. Claire is a registered nurse with a degree in environmental studies from Middlebury College. She has served on the Weybridge School Board and as a board member of the Middlebury Area Land Trust and the Vermont Association of Conservation Districts, as well as a Justice of the Peace. A member of the Vermont State Senate, Claire served on the Agriculture, Transportation, Finance, Judicial Retention, and Health Access Oversight committees during her first two terms, when she was also Vice Chair of the Natural Resources and Energy Committee. During her next two terms in the Senate, Claire was elected to serve as Senate Majority Whip. She was also appointed to serve as Vice Chair of the Senate Finance Committee and to represent the Senate on the Lake Champlain Basin Committee. While serving for six years on the University of Vermont Board of Trustees, Claire has been chair of the UVM College of Agriculture Board of Trustees and is currently chair of the Educational Policy and Institutional Resources Committee.

Carol has been a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Vermont, Department of Nursing since 2001. In addition, from 1994 to the present, she has been a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at the Child Development Clinic, Children with Special Health Care Needs at the Vermont State Health Department. She also taught at the Norwich University at Vermont College, Montpelier. She graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 1976 with Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and received a Master of Science in Maternal Child Health/Nursing Education from the Medical College of Virginia of the Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a doctoral student, ABD, in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at UVM. Carol is a Fellow with the National Association of Pediatric Nurses and Practitioners and a Member/ Coordinator of the Vermont Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Association. Since 1990 she has been a member of the Board of Directors and currently serves as Treasurer of the Vermont Nurse Practitioner Association. In 2006, she was the APRN representative on the Steering Committee for Vermont Health Department related to Access of Emergency Contraception for Vermonters. She has served on Board of Directors of the Mad River Health Care Center and the Waitsfield Elementary School.
Kevin is a Senior Accountant at Beecher Carlson Insurance Services, LLC. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Champlain College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Kevin is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Vermont Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Vermont Captive Insurance Association.
Heather Danis is the Health Services District Director for the Vermont Department of Health’s Burlington District Office. She has a Master of Public Health in Nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and has been a Registered Dietitian for over 16 years. Born and raised in South Burlington, she attended the UVM as an undergraduate, and several years later returned to UVM as a staff member. She spent 10 years with UVM, where she ran a funded nutrition education program for limited resource Vermonters. In July of 2008 she joined the Health Department in her current position.
Bob is the Associate Dean of the Vermont Campus of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. He received his BS from Albany College of Pharmacy and his Doctor of Pharmacy from the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University. After completing a Clinical Pharmacy Fellowship at Hartford Hospital, he joined Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and was promoted to the rank of Professor with tenure. He has served the College in a number of administrative roles including Director of the Professional Experience Program, post baccalaureate Doctor of Pharmacy, Continuing Education and as Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice. His practice with the College has evolved from critical care to the use of third party databases to assess drug use. Bob and his wife, Diane, have recently settled in Milton.
Leslie A. Holman is the founder of Holman Immigration Law a law firm located in Burlington, Vermont and limited to the practice of immigration and nationality matters. She represents both corporate and individual clients in a wide variety of immigration matters and her proximity to the U.S./Canadian border provides her with a unique understanding of border and entry related issues. Leslie is currently serving as AILA's Vice President and has also served as Vice Chair of AILA's National CBP Committee, Chair of its Admissions and Border Enforcement Committee, and as a member of its Interagency Committee. She continues to serve as the local port liaison for AILA's New England Chapter. Leslie was appointed to the Vermont State Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission of Civil Rights and she sits on the Board of the Chittenden County Area Health Education Committee. In 2008 Leslie was awarded AILA's Sam Williamson Mentor Award for excellence in mentoring and counseling in the field of immigration. She writes and speaks frequently to a wide variety of audiences on all aspects of immigration.

Charlie is a Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean for Primary Care at the University of Vermont. He has practiced as a primary care doctor in Essex Junction for over 20 years. He grew up in Montreal and received a BS in Chemistry from the University of New Hampshire and his MD degree from McGill University. He completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the Boston VA and the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. He and his wife Susan have two boys, one a freshman at UVM and the other a Junior at CVU.

He was appointed research director for the UVM Office of Primary Care in 2006, and is the principal investigator for its Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program. He joined UVM/Fletcher Allen Health Care in 1988, and served as physician practice manager of the Given Health Care Center Essex site from 1. He was co-investigator and Project Director of a National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease-funded project entitled the Vermont Diabetes Information System, and he participated in the development of the Vermont Program for Quality in Health Care-Vermont Department of Health “Guidelines for Management of Diabetes in Vermont.” He currently serves on the executive committee of the Vermont Blueprint for Health and is the co-chair of the Provider Practice Workgroup. MacLean received his medical degree from McGill University and served a one-year internal medicine residency at Boston Veterans Administration Medical Center and a two-year primary care internal medicine residency followed by a chief residency at the University of Rochester. He completed a two-year fellowship in the Faculty Development Program in Internal Medicine at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Megan is currently a student at University of Vermont College of Medicine, where she is a Vermont Freeman Scholar. She graduated from Dartmouth College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Psychology. As part of Dartmouth’s Environmental Studies Foreign Study Program, she traveled through South Africa, Botswana and Swaziland analysing environmental issues. Megan works as Substitute Residential Counselor at Howard Center for Health and Human Services in Burlington. She has been a UVM research assistant and orderly at Fletcher Allen Health Care. She is the founder of the College of Medicine Environmental Health Interest Group and co-leader of the College of Medicine Global Health Interest Group, Her volunteer activities have included coaching with the Girls on the Run program, teaching downhill skiing to handicapped children and adults, and bicycling across the nation for Habitat for Humanity.
Albert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Carolina in 1956 and began active duty naval service that year. He married Marcia Corbett in 1959; they have seven children and twenty grandchildren. He served as Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Navy and commanded a nuclear attack submarine, retiring from the Navy as Captain. He worked in private industry at JAYCOR in Northern Virginia 1, after which he has served as a member of the Vermont House of Representatives 1 and 2; at various times on the Transportation, Ways and Means, Appropriations, Joint Fiscal and Agriculture Committees. He has served on the Board of Directors of various community, regional and statewide organizations during the past 17 years, including: Vermont Community Foundation, Vermont 4-H Foundation, Northwest Medical Center (1), Northwest Vermont Public Transit Network, Richford Planning Commission, Richford Economic Advancement Corporation, and currently President of the Richford Renaissance Corporation. Interests are reading, music, Sudoku, fishing, boating and family.
Prior to joining the Community Health Center of Burlington, Andrew spent many years with the Indian Health Service and a community health center in northern Arizona. Over the next decade, he helped build a network of clinics that served the scattered rural towns along old Route 66. He has a keen interest in workforce development and sustainable healthcare models. Andrew and his wife Karen are raising two daughters, one dog, two guinea pigs, and a flock of backyard chickens.

For more than 20 years, Carol has owned her own practice, Carol B. Tremble, Certified PUblic Accountant, serving 500+ clients; 200 of whom are small business owners. Ms. Tremble prepares taxes and provides general business and computer consulting. Carol served as a Selectman in her town for 15 years retiring in 2003. She now serves on the town planning commission, board of civil authority, several volunteer committees related to encouraging bicycling as an ecologically friendly means of transportation and is a member of the church choir. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountaints, the New England Peer Review Board, and the Vermont Society of CPA's. Ben is a third year medical student at the University of Vermont; he previously worked doing web and database programming before deciding to pursue a second career. He also has been a member of the Air National Guard since the summer of 2001. Outside of studying and work, he enjoys racing in triathlons and running races, as well as spending time with his wife outside in beautiful Vermont.

Robert is an internist who has been practicing medicine in northern Vermont for more than 25 years. He provides care for patients in outpatient settings, in several nursing homes, and in the hospital. He is the medical director of the Northern Tier Center for Health, directing care at four qualified health centers in Franklin and Grand Isle counties. The author of the novel Time of Trial, Robert lives with his wife, Sandra, a chocolate lab and four cats in Highgate, Vermont. He enjoys playing the bagpipes, duck hunting, running, and playing duplicate bridge.
