Tentative MedQuest 2009 Dates
Week 1 - June 21 - 26, 2009
Week 2 - July 5 - 10, 2009
MedQuest
Health Careers Exploration Program is a week full of career
development and asset building activities on a college campus and in the
surrounding health care community. MedQuest participants will explore a variety of careers and opportunities
in health care through participating in three 3-hour job shadows during the week as well as attending presentations and participating in workshops.

MedQuest participants live in a University of Vermont (UVM) residence hall, eat on campus, are introduced to UVM resources for future reference, and explore the College of Medicine campus and it's resources. All of this provides an up close look at what it will be like to go to college and will help with future college decisions.

Participants can gain basic medical skills, learn about the newest technologies in the health care field, become CPR certified, participate in team building activities, job shadow a few health care professionals, interact with medical students, and explore numerous health care careers. Participants will be able to walk away with a better understanding of what skills and knowledge will help them become a successful health care professional and hopefully, what health care field would be the best fit. This information will be useful as juniors and seniors face many career and college decisions.
Champlain Valley Area Health Education Center's (CVAHEC) MedQuest Programs are for Vermont high school students (currently in 10th and 11th grades) from Addison, Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle Counties, only. To apply to participate, students must complete an application which includes: short answers, a short essay, and two letters of recommendation from adult professionals that know the student well (not a relative and one must be a school professional). This application needs to be mailed to Champlain Valley AHEC prior to the deadline. There is limited space in the MedQuest programs making the selection process competitive. There is a $375 fee to participate in the MedQuest program. However, scholarships are available!
MedQuest is offered twice each summer. The residential programs run from Sunday to Friday. Visit our web site in the coming months for dates and an application.
